2023 Cabin Schedule

Due to covid-19 still here, we need to respect everyone's space.

For the long Holiday weekends, Please check who else plans to be at the cabin so the rest of us can assess the risk and make informed decisions.

As usual, all requests to use the cabin go through Doug(the owners will then decide to grant or decline the request, depending on availability and circumstances)

Before using a snowmobile or ATV , Please ask the owner If you break it, let the owner know and offer to fix it.

Important Rules!

  1. Play safe …It's a long way to a hospital. Cell phones may not work and 911 may not be able to find you here. (our 911 # is 1177 Black River Rd, East)
  2. Wear life jackets when on the water … 4 people have drowned near here in the last 10 years.
  3. Don't wander off by yourself because there are no “Search / Rescue” efforts until first light.
  4. Tend your campfires carefully and no fireworks in dry conditions! There is a better than good chance of a forest fire.
  5. Take your recycle/garbage home.. feeding the bears is not recommended.
  6. Leave the wood box full, the next visitor will thank you.
  7. Don't leave mousetraps set when you leave.... It can be a stinky mess by the time someone finds it.
  8. When things break, either fix it /replace it or tell someone about it so we can fix it.

When leaving please turn off the following ...

  1. the water pump on the 12vdc push button panel,
  2. the cabin inverter,
  3. the propane tank in the shed
  4.  lock doors, windows and the gate.
In general, leave the Cabin as good or better than you found it.
    Thank you,
    the Brothers

    - removed a trailer load of old steel

    - placed 2 trailer loads of sand around the firepit to level the area

Rob showed off his new "ATV"

    Cabin Bike Trip April 23rd - 26th

Warren, Rob, Murray, Peter and Jamie at Victoria Falls.

April 13th -16th Dock Repair trip

Barry arrived late Wed night only to find a culvert washed out, a tree down across the road and some of the road under water. He parked the truck, unloaded the ATV and motored in with Chase.

Doug and Charlie met Barry at the missing culvert at noon on Thursday and helped fill it in enough to get  across with the truck and Lexus. After chain sawing the fallen tree, it was clear sailing to the Cabin. The water wasn't that deep in the daylight.

Jerry  arrived  on his bike Friday. in time to help with dock repairs ...

    4th winter? trip - April 1st

Hydro plowed out the road for us. Left just enough snow to get the snowmobiles in.

Bushwacking around a beaver dam with open water while snowmobiling back the mostly frozen slough to the old cabin.

Rained at night and now there is an inch of water on the ice.

Kinda fun sledding over water !

    Parking the log splitter.

    3rd winter trip - March 9th - 12th 2023

Took advantage of new snow to make a trip to the cabin.

    Robinson Lake ice fishing.

Loading up some standing dead fire wood off the slough.

    2nd Winter Trip - March 1st - 4th 2023

Warren, Bruce and Doug arrived at Liewsham Lane about 8 at night , fired up 2 snowmobiles , loaded sleds and headed in. Fresh snow, no tracks from ATVs or sleds, easy run to the cabin in the dark.

Bruce and Doug took 2 sleds out on Thursday to pic up Murray and Jamie.

Campfire on Thursday night, plus cards. Run to Robinson Lake for a bush lunch on Friday. Storm rolled in after supper with fresh snow. Played some tag team euchre (5 of us) that was hilarious.

Lakes had 5 inches of snow on top of solid ice, no slush!

    1st Winter Cabin Trip Feb 8 - 12 2023

The stars and weather finally aligned so we made our first 2023 trip to the cabin. Turned out that there was 2-3 ft of snow at the cabin so Barry and Murray skied in on Wed to find and dig out the snowmobiles. Doug and Jerry arrived Friday at 1 and got picked up by snowmobile. Murray had to head home but Shawn arrived Friday night and skied in with Scotia.

On a gorgeous warm Sat we made a trip to Robinson lake for a bush lunch. Only a couple of water crossings, nothing tooo deep. Barry and Doug fell behind in the Sat night euchre game and finally had to burn the card deck.

Stay tuned for a late Feb... early March return trip .. Let me know if you want to go once we have more details.
