First trip of 2021 - Jan 8th

 Arriving

Jerry and I headed north to meet Barry at the cabin for the first trip of 2021. Luckily, we were able to drive in with our trucks. The road, although narrow, was hard packed snow but the laneway was bumper deep in spots and it took a few runs to break trail up the laneway into the cabin.

Barry was able to drive in about an hour later with his newly repaired snowmobile on the trailer.

All three run!

Jerry got Rob's Polaris dug out and running. No problem! and Barry unloaded his SkiDo. I moved the battery from my ATV to the Yamaha, dumped in 20L (half full) and fired it up.

All 3 were running at the same time! (This wouldn't last)

Great weather ! Around 0 C during the day with bright sunshine. Found the lake frozen with a skiff of snow on top. Great campfires, too. No wind at all.

The Yamaha seemed to start and run fine but it was unable to accelerate past 60 k/hr. This wasn't a big deal as there are few places you can go faster than 60 but puzzling as to the reason why.

Two left one came back!

Friday saw Barry and I head out to Lewisham Lane to pick up Sydney and two friends. Halfway out the SkiDo quit cold! No reason. Just like last year. If it had been closer to the river, I am sure Barry would have pushed it in! I left him working on it, to get the kids with the Yamaha pulling both plastic sleds.

He was still checking things on the dead sled when we came back so we decided I would drop the kids off at the cabin and come back with the truck and trailer.

Jerry and I just got the truck and trailer out to the road when we met Barry driving his sled back. It had finally started! There had been no spark for reasons still not known but it ran fine for the rest of the weekend!

Saturday, we blazed new trails through the front field for use in winter or summer.

Birthday!

Took time Sat night to celebrate Jerry's birthday. Lit some candles!!

Yamaha finds top gear.

On Sunday morning I tried to fine the reason the Yamaha wouldn't go past 60 km/hr. Long story short, I finally noticed a green sponge jammed up under the windshield in the airway to the airbox.  I had put this sponge over the air box when I parked it, to keep debris out while it sat during the summer and it had somehow moved up into the hood.

I was running an air restictor!!

A quick run on the lake and it easily topped 100 km/hr! Problem solved!

Three sleds running again! For now!
