2020 Cabin Bookings

Please Read ...

For 2020, the covid-19 pandemic dictates being extra careful and respecting everyone's space.
Please respect the schedule. Make sure you have agreement before mixing family groups at the cabin.
Long weekends have typically been open for all but this year we all need to know who plans to be at the cabin so the rest of us can assess the risk and make informed decisions.

Note: The October Moose Hunting week has been cancelled as per Pete Kyser (May 19th 2020).

1) The cabin and trailer are considered separate accommodations.
This means we will allow people to use the cabin and other people to use the trailer, at the same time. We may, also, allow tenting on the property at the same time.

2) All long weekends are open to the family to use.

This will allow more people to use the property in the short summer weeks.
After all, this is a family vacation property and we don't want to have to say "No" to anyone.

3) All the recreational equipment is to be shared by everyone. IE. canoes, paddles, life jackets, etc

4)Please ask the owner before using an ATVs/motorcycle. Remember if you break it ,you will be responsible to fix it.

5) As usual, all requests to use the trailer or cabin go through Doug. (the owners then decide to grant or decline the request, depending on circumstances )
Important Rules!
  1. Play safe …It's a long way to a hospital. Cell phones may not work and 911 may not be able to find you here. (our 911 # is 1177 Black River Rd, East)
  2. Wear life jackets when on the water … 4 people have drowned near here in the last 10 years.
  3. Don't wander off by yourself because there are no “Search / Rescue” efforts until first light.
  4. Tend your campfires carefully, especially in dry periods. There is a good chance of a forest fire.
  5. Take your recycle/garbage home.. feeding the bears is not recommended.
  6. Leave the wood box full, the next visitor will thank you.
  7. Don't leave mousetraps set in the summer when you leave.... It can be a stinky mess by the time someone finds it.
  8. Replace the campfire wood used when possible.
  9. If things break, either fix it /replace it or tell someone about it so we can fix it.
  10. Turn off the following ...
      • the water pump on the 12vdc push button panel,
      • the cabin hydro at the inverter,
      • the propane tank in the shed
...... AndLock doors, windows and the gate when you leave.

In general, leave the Cabin as good or better than you found it.
      Thank you,
      the Brothers

      Solar Panels knocked flat!

Arrived with Barry to find that the last wind storm has snapped off all three posts and the entire solar panel array in the water,

After dropping a couple of trees for new posts, we quickly rebuilt the array.

Since there wasn't any sun anyway, we went to fire up the water gen to keep the batteries charging. Found out that the beavers had raised the water in the creek so high that the water gen was half submerged so we rebuilt the platform to raise it out of the water.

      March 13th Cabin Trip - Doug,Barry, Chris

Chris and I arrived late Friday night (midnght!) and found the cabin warm, courtesty of Barry, although, it was +3 C outside, anyway.

Everything frozen hard and the lake froze hard like glass. No traction for the snowmobiles at all.

We decided that the old dead pine at the road should come down and Barry carved up a special treat from the stump.

Chris and I made a run back to Robinson lake and only had three water crossing on the trail! (three more coming back, too) Snowmobiles don't float!!

      Cabin Trip Feb 17th 2020 - Barry/ Doug

Great day as we left Liewsham Lane but 5 minutes down the trail, Barry's snowmobile quit, again! This time we knew the problem ... it was seized!!! Found out that it was getting no oil! So we mixed up the tank with oil and got it running (mostly on one cylinder).. and it ran the rest of the weekend!

Great snow everywhere, although the lake proved slushy in spots. Lots of ice but water under the snow on top of the ice made it slushy going for the snowmobiles.

Our trip to Victoria Falls showed the river starting to melt... spring coming??

      Ski Trip Jan 24th 2020

All the Bremner Boys plus Jean Pierre, our own French chef, made the trip!

Lots of skiing and snowshoeing done.

Doug made several trips in/out ferrying people  and supplies ...

While Barry and Rob dealt with some snowmobile issues..

Luckily, everybody made it out at the end of the weekend.

      1st Cabin Trip Jan 5th 2020

Marcy and I decided to take advantage of the late winter and drove in to the cabin.

Barry and Jerry joined us so we celebrated Jerry's birthday!

With 5 inches of ice on the lake ,it seemed like a good time to drop some new posts in for the dock.
