Annual Meeting 2016

Annual Meeting 2016
Attended - Doug,Murray;Rob.Barry,Shawn and Lindsay

Another successful Annual Meeting in the books. We decided that we can afford to keep the cabin one more year,at least.
Friday was a beautiful day. T-shirt weather. We decided that several trees around the cabin had to come down so we dropped a dozen on the driveway/parking lot. We just had to keep moving the cars...Lol!

The highlite had to be Barry pulling down a 55 ft poplar hung up in a pine with his ATV and 60 ft of rope. Luckily, he had it in reverse when it came down because the 55 feet was only an estimate...Lol!!
Lucy showed up in her new outfit, appropriate for her Cabin Security job.

Saturday was wet but still warm and with Lindsay running the atv/trailers and the log splitter we managed to put in a huge pile of wood for next year. Thank you, Rob, for bringing a log splitter.

Shawn was also the winner this year of the prestigious Technical Innovation-Total Solution (TITS) Award for the introduction of the Playhouse/Tree Fort that was a big hit with the kids this year.
And thanks to Shawn for an excellent steak and baked potato dinner Saturday night.
Sunday was whiter and a lot colder so we finished putting stuff away for winter, cleaned up,packed up and headed home.

Thanks to everyone who made the trip. Lots of bodies make short work of a big job.

PS: We arranged for and installed our 911 number.

Moose Season Oct 19th 2016

Got a call from the hunters at the cabin. Pete says a severe storm went through Monday afternoon and the cabin took a direct lightning hit on the roof right over the door. Pete was standing there at the time and ended up on the floor.

He says he's ok just a few more grey hairs.

He thinks there is a hole in the steel roof over the porch that wasn't there before!
The inverter got smoked and the charge controller at the solar panels is not charging batteries or there are fuses blown.
We will have to do a trip up to assess damages.

Update ... Replaced the inverter. Nothing else seems touched .

Thanksgiving Weekend

Shawn and family had their annual overnight at the cabin on Thanksgiving weekend.
Shawn says he heard some loud foot steps down towards the dock so he went to investigate with Scotia beside him.
Halfway down the path he met a bull moose coming up the path. They both stopped and stared at each other. Shawn was thinking this might end badly.
Then Scotia barked and the moose did an about turn and tore off through the bush making his own trail.

Update: A week later the moose hunters didn't see a moose all week.

2016 Annual Family and Friends Camping Weekend and Fishing Derby

Well attended this year with 16 adults and 12 kids ( under 7 years old).

It was a full house!

Frog hunting seemed to be popular.

As was swimming!

and of course the Fishing Derby!

Gavin's Gang did with "Most Fish" "3 Largest" and "Biggest Fish" by fishing off the dock.

So a great weekend for everyone complete with Fireworks on the lake!

Dec 31st - Jan 1st 2014 - New Years

Another try at a spring trip!

What a difference a couple of weeks make. From full flood to dust dry. Great weekend! Although, there was a small problem with the "meal plan". Of the five people bringing meals , four brought sausage and beans!

Murray, Bruce, Warren and Pete brought bicycles to make the trip in.

This is the same corner that was under water April 1st!!

Lewisham Lane crowd.

April 1st - The spring trip that didn't happen!

Barry and I thought we would do an early spring trip. There was no snow pack left from winter so how big could the spring flood be?
Well, we picked the wrong day. A few days of rain made a huge difference. For the first time in 46 years, I didn't get in to the cabin. Until now whether spring, fall or winter we always found a way to get there. Sometimes we shouldn't have but we did. Not this time. Maybe I'm getting old.

New cabin guideline ... If your dog is swimming, the water is, probably, too deep for your quad!

New Years Eve

Not many showed for New Years at the cabin but still fun.
