Owners Meeting Nov 13th to 16th 2015

Another successful owners meeting is now in the books. In attendance Doug/Murray/Rob/Barry and Shawn with guests Jim, Tye and Jerry.
The highlite had to be the annual Total Innovation - Total Solution award. This year the award went to Jim for his ability to procure necessary components for the hydro grid at minimal cost .

We took advantage of the great weather to put in next years wood supply and restock the woodshed.

Rob gases up his Solo for tree cutting.

With three in the bush cutting, three hauling with ATVs and two blocking and splitting at the woodshed it only took an afternoon to stockpile next winters wood.

From this .....

To this ......

Steaks for supper, of course.

With lots of water at the dam we fired up the hydro-gen for the first time this year.

This guy came out to see what was going on.

Eager to get another project done. Shawn and Jerry started work on a playhouse.

Shawn reassembled the playhouse that he hauled up from Toronto. Should be a big hit with the younger generation next year.

So, as another year winds up it is good to note that there were 30+ bookings for the cabin this year. Thanks to everyone who went the extra mile to leave the cabin neat and tidy for the next visitors.

Oct 16th - 18th 2015

Headed up to the Cabin with Nick on Friday morning. The plan was to build the new woodshed and help Rob get the Orca out of Hunter Lake before freeze up.

Found the Cabin's sliding window wide open which is better than the door wide open ....which it was the last time we went up. Luckily, no critters were homesteading.

Barry arrived well after dark (don't let him tell you different) and we had the woodshed framed , ready to close in.

Rob arrived Sat morning in time for brunch. Finished the woodshed by 3 PM. No more bending over or bumping heads and it has a light.

.... now, we only had to pull the Orca out of Hunter Lake.
Rob wanted to put it back on the trailer and the only place to do that was over at the old camp site where we has put it in 2 years ago. This was going to be interesting .... We figured we would need ATVs , winchs, chains and come-alongs before it was done.

Not only is the trail into the camp site full of mud holes but the "boat ramp" is very steep into the lake.

Surprise !! Couldn't have been easier!

Except for the part where Barry went cellphone diving..

Yep, he found it!

Sunday, Pete Keyser arrived. The first of the hunters who have it for the week of moose season. We wished him luck and left about 2 pm.

Another great weekend! (No rain, no snow)

Team Orca came through as the winning team, with Rob claiming Master Angler.

and of course the highlight had to be the Sue leading the gang in Ukulele songs ...

See everyone next year!!

Early spring trip - March 27th 2015

Chase gets his own wood!

Final two play for all the marbles.

Great bunch of guys!

Bruce packs for one of Murray's ski trips.

Looks like the neighbours cabin is being updated after 20 years.

Great weather again!!

Annual January Ski Trip - Jan 29th 2015

Road report from Gail was that the groomer had gone down the Black River road (8km) so it was smooth as a highway! So, we drove in. (Thank God we didn't have to walk!)

At least, as far as the cabin driveway. Murray (with Bruce and Jamie) made it in far enough to get off the road and we (Warren and I) parked behind them. Good so far (as long as it doesn't snow in the next 4 days).

After a short haul by sled to get our supplies to the cabin (annual heart stress test), we lit a fire to warm things up.

-6 C Thursday night, very pleasant.... -30 C Friday night, not so pleasant!
Cabin kept at a toasty 28 C.

Rob joined us Friday with his trusty (or is that rusty) Polaris.

The cabin has it's own wine now.  "The Frisky Beaver" is a light, refreshing white wine with hints of winter and fresh snow.

The Friday ski trip took the boys to Ragged Rapids and other points before they got lost and bushwacked back to the Cabin.

Saturday saw fine weather with more skiing as the brave / foolish skied to Robinson Lake for lunch.

Note the picnic table while in the "middle of the bush"!

Sunday was just downright cold with a north wind but we were packing up and leaving anyway.

On the road to head out.
